AUD: The Australian dollar has floated since 12 December 1983; its exchange rate is determined by the market. The Reserve Bank of Australia intervenes in the foreign exchange market only in exceptional circumstances, such as disorderly or dysfunctional market conditions. MAD: Bank Al-Maghrib sets a daily central rate for the dirham against a basket of currencies weighted 60 percent euro and 40 percent US dollar, and lets the dirham trade within a fluctuation band around that rate rather than at one fixed number. Under a reform begun in January 2018, Bank Al-Maghrib has twice widened the band — from ±0.3% to ±2.5% in January 2018, then to ±5% in March 2020 — describing this as a gradual, voluntary transition from a fixed exchange rate regime toward a more flexible one.
