CNY: China pursues a managed floating exchange rate regime based on market supply and demand with reference to a basket of currencies, adopted in the July 2005 reform that ended the fixed peg to the US dollar. The China Foreign Exchange Trade System, authorized by the People's Bank of China, publishes a central parity rate of the renminbi against the US dollar each business day, around which onshore trading is managed. UAH: Ukraine operates a "managed flexibility" exchange-rate regime: the National Bank of Ukraine intervenes in the interbank foreign-exchange market to cover the war-driven structural shortage of foreign currency and smooth excessive swings, while letting the hryvnia move in both directions rather than holding a fixed rate. The NBU introduced this regime in October 2023, replacing the exchange-rate peg it had imposed at the outbreak of Russia's full-scale invasion, as a transitional step toward a fully floating exchange rate under conventional inflation targeting.
