KWD: The Central Bank of Kuwait pegs the dinar to an undisclosed weighted basket of the currencies of Kuwait's major trade and financial partner countries, a policy in force since 20 May 2007. Neither the basket's composition nor a central rate is published; from 5 January 2003 to 19 May 2007 the dinar was instead pegged to the US dollar at 299.63 fils per dollar with ±3.5% margins. JPY: The yen has floated freely since February 1973, its exchange rate determined by market supply and demand. Japan's Minister of Finance is legally authorized to conduct foreign exchange intervention to stabilize the rate, which the Bank of Japan executes as the ministry's agent.
