KWD: The Central Bank of Kuwait pegs the dinar to an undisclosed weighted basket of the currencies of Kuwait's major trade and financial partner countries, a policy in force since 20 May 2007. Neither the basket's composition nor a central rate is published; from 5 January 2003 to 19 May 2007 the dinar was instead pegged to the US dollar at 299.63 fils per dollar with ±3.5% margins. CAD: The Canadian dollar floats freely: the Bank of Canada states that the flexible exchange rate, or floating dollar, permits an independent monetary policy aimed at its 2% inflation-control target, and that the dollar's value is not fixed to any other currency or to gold. The dollar has floated continuously since 31 May 1970.
