It introduced an interim crawling peg on 8 May 2024, realigning the taka to a market-clearing mid-rate of Tk. 117 per US dollar within a basket-linked band as a transitional step, and by its July-December 2026 policy statement describes the framework as a "flexible, market-determined exchange rate regime" while still intervening with net foreign-currency purchases and publishing a daily transaction-based reference rate. USD: The US dollar floats freely: its value is determined in foreign exchange markets, and neither the U.S. Treasury nor the Federal Reserve targets a level for the exchange rate.
