BRL: The Brazilian real floats freely: its exchange rate has been determined in the foreign exchange market since January 1999, and the Banco Central do Brasil anchors monetary policy on an inflation target — from January 2025 a continuous target of 3% for twelve-month IPCA inflation with a 1.5-percentage-point tolerance either side — rather than on any exchange rate level. CNY: China pursues a managed floating exchange rate regime based on market supply and demand with reference to a basket of currencies, adopted in the July 2005 reform that ended the fixed peg to the US dollar. The China Foreign Exchange Trade System, authorized by the People's Bank of China, publishes a central parity rate of the renminbi against the US dollar each business day, around which onshore trading is managed.
